About Us

Outreached hand offering helpStaircase Youth Services first opened our doors in 1979. We are a community outreach that provides youth and family intervention services in the Michigan counties of Lake, Manistee, Mason, Missaukee, and Wexford.  The staff strives to provide support, guidance, and a sense of hope to all we serve.

Staircase Services are:

  • Voluntary
  • Free of Charge
  • Confidential
  • Community-Based

The following is a list of services we provide for the those in need:

At-Risk and Runaway Services (ages 12-17)

  • Crisis Intervention
  • Initial assessment and intake services.
  • Information and referral to other types of community services.
  • Short-term problem solving,  supportive services for youth and families.
  • Temporary foster care.

Homeless Services (ages 17-20)

Community Education

  • Youth Advocacy.
  • Prevention Programming.
  • Speakers for groups, classes, clubs, churches, schools, and other agencies

Program funding includes:

  • HHS-Basic Center Grant
  • Housing and Urban Development- Supportive Housing Grant
  • Michigan Department of Human Services- HRY-Contract
  • United Ways of Manistee, Mason, and Wexford/Missaukee Counties
